Mission Statement

My mission is to help students learn to be proactive in their education. I will strive to inspire students to set new standards of their best. Each day I will instill what it means to be respectful, compassionate, responsible, and disciplined.  Students will leave my classroom everyday feeling they reached their greatest potential.  My students will learn the problem solving skills to take on life’s difficult challenges and turn it into a positive.   I will encourage students to become life-long learners who are always willing to try and learn something new.  Most of all I want my students to believe in themselves and know I truly do!

Daily Schedule for the 2015-2016 School Year

Homework Policy

Students will need to read 30 minutes per day during the school week,  There will not be a daily log that is sent home and signed. I believe that with the reading workshop approach most students will want to continue to read at home on his or her own time.  Students will have spelling words each week starting the first week of October.  Spelling will be taught through a Word study program.  Any work that is unfinished during class is to be taken home for homework.

Classroom Rules:

We create these as a classroom community.

 Classroom Management

Students will be guided by positive incentives for positive behaviors.  Students will work on improving his or her self  throughout the year.  Students will receive a "super improver" name plate.  Students will work towards earning ten tallies per colored plate.  When one has earned ten tallies he or she will earn a new colored name plate.  The goal is to make it to Blue or Gold.  Students will also work toward earning positive incentives as a class!

Warning System:

1.  nonverbal - given a please stop card

2.  2nd nonverbal warning results in a meeting with Mrs. King
